Guaranteed Admissions Programs

About FWPS GAP

Federal Way Public Schools is proud to offer eligible seniors guaranteed college admission to seven private and public four-year colleges and universities through FWPS Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP) partnerships*. These partnerships aim to increase credential completion, eliminate barriers to college acceptance, and streamline the pathway from high school to post-secondary education.

Participating four-year GAP institutions include:

  • Central Washington University (CWU)
  • Eastern Washington University (EWU)
  • Pacific Lutheran University (PLU)
  • The Evergreen State College (ESC)
  • St. Martin's University (SMU)
  • University of Washington - Tacoma (UW - Tacoma)
  • Washington State University (WSU)
  • Western Washington University (WWU)

To be eligible for GAP at WSU, WWU, CWU, EWU, and The Evergreen State College, scholars must meet the following criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Completion of the College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs)

To be eligible for GAP at PLU and SMU, scholars must meet the following criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Completion of the College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs)

To be eligible for GAP at UW - Tacoma, scholars must meet the following criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Completion of the College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs)

*Federal Way Public Schools continues to expand GAP partnerships with additional regional colleges. New partnerships will be added to this list as they are established. Please note, GAP provides automatic admission only. Scholars and families are still responsible for tuition and other related costs, and may need to complete the Common Application to secure admission.

What's Next

If eligible for guaranteed admission, expect to receive an admission letter from each college. Each institution's letter will go over the next steps for admission, which may include submitting the Common Application or your acceptance of admission. While students will be admitted to college automatically, students should still complete the FAFSA or WASFA financial aid application and apply for available local and national scholarships to secure the necessary funding for tuition and fees. Learn more about financial aid.

While waiting for letters of admission, it is recommended to review the program offerings at each FWPS GAP partner college to determine if their college will be a good fit. Consider college size, location, available degrees, school culture, and more. You'll need to either accept or decline admission to each school by May 1, which is the deadline for all students for the following fall quarter or semester.
