Hello Brilliant Brigadoon Tigers!
As we welcome you back you to the 2021-2022 school year and welcome our new Superintendent, Dr. Dani Pfeiffer, I am extremely proud of our community and the strength, growth, and resilience that has been shown throughout this past couple of years! We will be launching 2021-2022 with a Family Zoom during which we will provide additional information regarding the routines on-campus.
Our first day of school is Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 8:35am. Although, I truly enjoyed learning with and about you in your home environments last year, I look forward to moving back into learning on campus and utilizing the feedback and scholar voice to improve our classroom experiences to meet the needs of every scholar. Fall Re-Opening: Using guidance from OSPI and the Department of Health, we are planning for a safe return that prioritizes learning. In accordance with Gov. Inslee and OSPI direction, we will be opening the year with full face to face instruction. Please stay tuned for more information to come in the coming weeks.
With feedback from our families, I will continue to host “Family Zooms” and “Lunch with Lopez” so that we can continue to build our unified commitment to each other and our scholars’ success. Title information, District and Building updates, as well as continuing to connect with families about what is working well and what we can do to get better. Please ensure that your information is current in ParentVue so that you can stay informed and connected.
Calling all families with Kindergarteners! We are looking for new Tiger “Cubs” to join our family! Our team is ready to provide the best year for your scholars to start their educational path. Please go to: fwps.org for online registration options or call 253.945.2400 for assistance.
Federal Way Public Schools offers nutritious meals every school day throughout the school year. For the 2021-22 school year, breakfast and lunch will be provided to FWPS scholars at no cost regardless of free and reduced eligibility status. Free and reduced meal applications ensure your child’s school qualifies for federal and state funding as determined by parent income levels and will continue to be collected.
I have always said the health and safety of our scholars, staff, and families are a priority. As we prepare for our face to face fall re-opening, our district is hard at work developing health and safety protocols which include social distancing guidelines, arranging schedules that minimize high traffic contact, considering bus transportation and engaging in deep cleaning protocols to minimize the spread of germs. As part of ensuring a safe learning environment, all scholars and staff will be required to wear face masks. Please take the time this summer to both reinforce and practice the wearing of face masks. FWPS will continue to place health and safety as a priority as we look forward to welcoming our scholars back on September 1st. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
As we return to on-campus learning, Superintendent Dr. Pfeiffer will continue to keep our community informed and up to date through the weekly “Federal Way Public Schools News” newsletter. FWPS will continue to focus on our Strategic Plan and make decisions in alignment with guidance from the Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH) and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
At Brigadoon, we will continue the work in nurturing both a child’s academic success as well as their social and emotional development. We will take time to celebrate coming together in a variety of new ways and continue to work with our scholars and families to ensure a safe and welcoming community for all. This will continue to be part of our educational story as we enter back into “On-campus” learning. I am so proud of our amazing partnership that continues to grow. We are in this together Brigadoon Tigers!
In Proud Partnership,
Mrs. Vicki Lopez, Principal
