District Headlines & Features
Hello Brave Brigadoon Tigers!
Welcome to start the 2020-2021 school year and WOW, what a year it is going to be! I am extremely proud to continue this unique life experience with all of you and cannot express enough gratitude for all the family and community support that has been strengthened over this past several months.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th. I look forward to launching this amazing year with all of you during our first day Orientation. The zoom link has been emailed to our families, so if you did not receive it, please call 253.945.2400. We have our remote learning orientation days scheduled for both September 8th and 9th.
Calling all families with Kindergarteners! We have a fabulous Kindergarten team that are ready to provide the best first year for your scholars. Please call 253.945.2400 to enroll now!
Funding by the USDA, has made meals available for FWPS students and children aged 18 or younger at no cost beginning September 9th through December 31, 2020. Meals will continue to be 5 breakfast and 5 lunch meals. A new choice available is microwave or ready to eat. Brigadoon will have meals for pickup on Wednesdays ONLY from 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM. Please see the FWPS district website at https://www.fwps.org/schoolmeals, to access the free and reduced meal application as well as additional meal information.
With feedback from our families, I will continue to host “Family Zoom” sessions twice a month to provide Title information, District and Building updates, as well as connect with families about what is working well and what we can do to get better. Please ensure that your information is current in ParentVue so that you stay informed and connected.
As I have always said, the health and safety of our scholars and staff are a priority. As we begin our 100% remote learning model for the 2020-2021 school year, Dr. Campbell continues to keep our community informed and up-to-date through her weekly “Federal Way Public Schools News” newsletter. FWPS will continue to make decisions about reopening in alignment with guidance from the Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH) and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
At Brigadoon, we will continue the work in nurturing both a child’s academic success as well as their social and emotional development. We will take time to celebrate coming together in a variety of new ways. We will support each other in ways that we never thought possible and that will be our “new normal”. This will continue to be part of our educational story forever and I cannot wait to see what this amazing team accomplishes. We are in this together Brigadoon Tigers!
In Proud Partnership,
Mrs. Vicki Lopez, Principal
