District Headlines & Features
Welcome to Valhalla Elementary! Both Kevin Bauer, assistant principal, and myself are pleased to be joining such a caring community. The 2016-17 school year will mark my 26th year in education. I am very excited to begin my time in Federal Way Public Schools, and am so impressed with the district strategic plan and support for our school. My husband Patrick and I live in Tacoma, WA with our son, Sam. Sam is going to be an 11th grader at Rogers High School in Puyallup and loves leadership, history, and drama. Patrick works at Seattle Children’s Theatre as the Executive Business Manager. Kevin has worked for FWPS during his time as a Physical Education teacher, most recently at Rainier View Elementary. He has been a huge help to me this summer acclimating to a new district, while balancing time with his wife and young daughter.
At Valhalla Elementary, we are very proud to offer an educational experience based on respect for all children. Our school is rich with a wide diversity of cultures and experiences. Our highly skilled staff provides outstanding classroom leadership for our students. Valhalla is a school that is built upon positive and productive relationships. We believe that all people are able to learn and achieve at high levels: students, families, and staff members.
The staff of Valhalla Elementary embraces a feeling of ownership in each child’s success. It is our joint responsibility to prepare our students to be productive, ethical citizens that positively contribute to society. There is nothing more important than seeing that your child’s education is an exceptional experience!
We invite you to become actively involved in your child’s education at home and in the many of the volunteer activities at school. We, as a team, are responsible for the quality of education your children receive. It is important that each of us continue to give our students the support and encouragement they need and deserve. It is the continued support we receive from each other that will make the difference on a student’s attitude, effort and achievement.
The following information is designed to provide parents and community members with the most current information regarding Valhalla Elementary and the Federal Way Public Schools. Please continue to check back often for updates and reference information.
Finally, please take the time to spend fifteen minutes per day with your child in a one-to-one situation. Discuss the school day, work on hobbies, read together—whatever fits your family style. Let them know how much you love them.
We look forward to a terrific year of growth and celebration with your family!
