Dear Valhalla Community,
I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve the Valhalla community as Principal. The 2018-2019 school year will mark my sixth year as an educator in Federal Way Public Schools. I am committed to leading and supporting the work toward achieving the goals outlined in the Federal Way Public Schools Strategic Plan.
At Valhalla, our priorities are Goal 2, Whole Child, and Goal 4, Mastery of All Subjects. Specifically, our focus in alignment with Goal 2, Whole Child, will be Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports to foster a positive school climate and impact school safety for our scholars. Our focus in alignment with Goal 4, Mastery of All Subjects, will be continuing the work underway toward supporting each scholar in meeting or exceeding grade level standards. I’ve had the initial opportunity to attend multiple community events (Multi-Cultural Night, Spring Carnival, Kindergarten Jump Start, assemblies, and Coffee with the Principal).
It is clear to me that families and community members are actively involved and solidly invested the success of Valhalla scholars. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet with each individual staff member to gain an understanding of the strengths and opportunities of Valhalla. The pride and commitment of all staff shines through! I’ve become acquainted with Valhalla scholars through class visits, field day, recess and lunch visits, and community events and performances.
Scholars have extended a warm welcome and have excitedly shared with me what it means to be a Voyager. Jake Booker, Assistant Principal, and I are honored to join such a strong learning community, and we look forward to partnering with staff, families, and community to ensure each scholar has a voice, a dream, and a bright future!
