Dear Silver Lake Elementary School Community,

It is with great pleasure to introduce myself as the new principal of Silver Lake Elementary School and to join this amazing school community.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community.  I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to support the students and families. My official start date at Silver Lake Elementary was July 23rd. Mrs. Kelly Sutton, our Assistant Principal, and I are working together to ensure a smooth transition.

I received a Bachelor’s in Education from Saint Martin’s College, a Master’s in Education from Lesley University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certification from Grand Canyon University. I have been dedicated to the field of education for twenty-five years.  I have worked with students ranging in age from Kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of roles.  I have served as a paraprofessional, classroom teacher, gifted education LAP/Title Interventionist, High School Dean of Students, and a K-8 Principal. My most recent position was with Yelm Community Schools as a Coordinator of Academic Intervention.  I am thrilled to bring my skills as an Educational Leader to Silver Lake Elementary School and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.

Our Assistant Principal, Kelly Sutton, is excited to serve the Silver Lake community as well. She is a mom of two children, wife of a local Seattlite, and proud graduate from Renton High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Western Washington University in Special and Elementary Education and Master of Education in School Administration from Central Washington University. Over the last ten years, she’s been a special educator in Kent School District and Seattle Public Schools, classroom teacher in Skyway of Renton Public Schools, and has now served in Federal Way for the past two years. Mrs. Sutton values family engagement, growth mindset, and equity for our community.

To our scholars, I cannot wait to meet you all! I hope that you are excited about this coming school year and that you are out this summer playing and reading tons of books with your family

In closing, please know that in these unprecedented times of COVID, we will strive to ensure safety and strong educational opportunities for your scholar. As we look forward to the upcoming school year, please look for more information on the district website at the following links:
