District Headlines & Features
Welcome to Green Gables Elementary,
Welcome to our 2021 – 2022 school year as we fully return to our school campus. We’ve all been on a “historic pandemic” journey since March 13th of 2020. I am thankful for our Families and our Staff for teaming together to maintain steady learning and growth for all of our Scholars. Thankfully we are back in person and our School Team is excited and ready to do great work this school year. We do have a gem of a staff returning to serve our Scholars as Teachers, Support Leaders, Paraeducators, and Office team. I promise your child is in great hands with us at Green Gables.
We truly believe in equitable learning for all as we engage your child in a “deep dig” into their own learning journey as they master grade-level standards within a school community where each scholar feels connected, safe and empowered to contribute and achieve at their highest level. In spite of remote learning through zoom 2020-21, our School wide IReady Reading and Math Assessment spring data showed our kids exceeded the national average diagnostic scores in 9 out of 10 area and exceeded a year’s growth as measured by IRLA reading. We know our students scored this well thanks to your support and thanks to the relentless dedication of our staff.
Fall Re-Opening: Using guidance from OSPI and the Department of Health, we are planning for a safe return that prioritizes learning. In accordance with Gov. Inslee and OSPI direction, we are opening the year with full face to face instruction. Our scholars’ health and safety are priority. Our district is hard at work developing health and safety protocols which include social distancing guidelines, arranging schedules that minimize high traffic contact, considering bus transportation and engaging in deep cleaning protocols to minimize the spread of germs. As part of ensuring a safe learning environment, all scholars and staff will be required to wear face masks. Please take the time to both reinforce and practice the wearing of face masks. FWPS will continue to place health and safety as a priority as we look forward to welcoming our scholars back on September 1st. Please stay tuned for more information to come in the coming weeks.
While this year will be another new year like no other, we have an incredible team ready to make it a great year for you child. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
