Principal's Message
-
Hello Camelot community!
I am excited to use this space to introduce myself and share a bit about all that we have to look forward to in the upcoming school year.
My name is Brooke Perry and I am proud to be the next principal of Camelot Elementary. For the last two years, I have been serving as the assistant principal of Lake Grove Elementary here in Federal Way. Before that, I spent four years supporting educators and scholars as an instructional coach. As a teacher, I spent six years teaching 4th, 5th, and 6th grade in the Kent School District. I graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (2009), from Lesley University with a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (2014), and from Western Governors University with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership/School Administration (2020).
When not at work, I stay busy raising my spunky three-year-old daughter with my husband. I have first-hand experience of the time, patience, and love it takes to raise a family and it has only further confirmed my belief in the importance of having a village of support. At Camelot, we want to be part of your village, therefore every decision I make as a principal will be in-service of your child, your family, and the Camelot community as a whole.
I was fortunate enough to spend time last month sitting down with the staff members at Camelot and asking them questions about their hopes for the upcoming school year. There was a resounding common theme: connect with the community! The last two years have been unlike any other. As we made important adjustments to our school policies and practices in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, we had fewer opportunities for consistent face-to-face interactions with each other. Fostering strong school-family partnerships is a key focus of my leadership and a sincerely-held value of Federal Way Public Schools. We are excited to use the 2022-2023 school year to come together, build new partnerships, and show how strong the Camelot Knight community is!
I would love the opportunity to connect with you before the school year begins! Please stay tuned for communication regarding my summer availability. In the meantime, do not hesitate to reach out with questions or comments! I look forward to meeting you, your children, and to serving this wonderful community.
In Partnership,
Brooke Perry
