What is Special About Our School?

Twin Lakes Elementary invites every student to join our “community of learners” We use a variety of programs and strategies to help children meet their highest learning potential.

This school’s Parent Involvement Policy was developed in order to strengthen the home and school partnership, which is critical to a student’s success. Features of that policy include weekly communications from teachers; student folders or notebooks sent home on a regular basis; early identification of students who are reading below their grade level; publication of staff phone numbers and e-mail addresses; and multiple volunteer opportunities; monthly school newsletter.

Learning goals are carefully selected by parents and staff and are vigorously pursued by the entire school community. We focus on literacy, mathematics, and writing achievement for all students.

Additional learning opportunities in reading are offered to Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd and 3rd grade students through the Learning Assistance Program. Additional math practice is available to the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders through the I-728 Program.  Parent and community volunteers tutor students in areas of need along with our intermediate level students who “buddy” with the primary students for literacy practice.  Welcome to Twin Lakes where every student is carefully supported toward success.

No Child Left Behind Report Card

The No Child Left Behind Act requires all schools and school districts in the United States to prepare annual reports for parents and the public detailing their academic achievement. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s web site makes this information available on-line. Find your school’s report card on-line at http://reportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us/  Click on Federal Way in the “Summary” box, then choose your school from the list. You may also request a paper copy of the report card at your school’s office. For more information about the NCLB Act, go to http://www.nclb.gov/index.html.
