What is Special About Our School?

Panther Lake serves a diverse community of approximately 400 students in Kindergarten through 5th grades. This school attends to each student’s full range of educational needs, preparing him or her for continued learning in middle school and beyond. The cooperative efforts of a dedicated staff, involved parents, wonderful students, and a supportive community help to meet that mission.

Panther Lake is unique in many ways. The school recognizes and celebrates all the diverse cultures represented in its population. The staff focuses on the individual learner and on fulfilling each student’s academic needs. Panther Lake expects that all students will achieve their full potential. The staff realizes they can teach students to learn, but parental modeling and support are what teach a child to work.

Panther Lake’s many accomplishments are made possible through a full partnership with parents, community, and school staff.

The model inclusion program provides for the varied needs of all the students. Staff development concentrates on helping adapt and integrate the curriculum so that all students are successful. In order for these successes to continue to grow, the Panther Lake staff invites all community members to work with them as they nurture and educate children.

Panther Lake’s parent volunteer program reflects a wide cross-community representation. A PTA organization and a parent volunteer group contribute to the success of the annual carnival, science fair, math and literacy nights, field trips, assemblies, and many valuable teaching materials and resources.  Teaching children is truly a team effort. Without the efforts of our PTA, we would not be nearly as successful.

No Child Left Behind Report Card

The No Child Left Behind Act requires all schools and school districts in the United States to prepare annual reports for parents and the public detailing their academic achievement. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s web site makes this information available on-line. Find your school’s report card on-line at http://reportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us/, Click on Federal Way in the “Summary” box, and then choose your school from the list. You may also request a paper copy of the report card at your school’s office. For more information about the NCLB Act, go to http://www.nclb.gov/index.html.
