Federal Way Public Schools Approves 4 Collective Bargaining Agreements
Federal Way Education Association (FWEA) Signs 5-year Contract
Federal Way Public Schools Board of Directors voted Tuesday night, to approve the collective bargaining agreements between Federal Way Public School District and the Federal Way Education Association Teachers (FWEA), Federal Way Education Association (FWEA) Educational Support Personnel (ESP) Chapter, Athletic Coaches, and Early Childhood Education Assistance (ECEAP) personnel.
“Federal Way Public Schools has a record of academic excellence, economic stability, and strong community support in a large part due to the outstanding service of our teachers,” said Board President Suzanne Smith.
The collective bargaining agreements with FWEA (which represents 1,479 certificated teachers and staff), ESP and Athletic Coaches are five- year contracts effective September 1, 2009 – August 31, 2014. The contract with ECAP employees is a three-year agreement, effective September 1, 2009 – August 31, 2012.
“With the combined leadership of the team members from our unions and district management, we have negotiated fair and equitable contracts that will allow us to move our work forward with our focus on ALL children, and, at the same time, respect and honor our employees and colleagues,” said Federal Way Superintendent Tom Murphy.
