Exchange Students - 3142
The Federal Way Public Schools recognizes the benefits derived from the placement of foreign exchange students in our school programs. The district believes strongly that the exchange of students will increase the understanding between peoples of the world.
A foreign exchange student is a non-immigrant secondary student between the ages of 15 and 19 entering the Federal Way Public Schools under the sponsorship of an approved foreign exchange organization for a maximum period of 12 months.
Non-immigrant students entering the Federal Way Public Schools must comply with the provisions of Sections 625, 641, and 346 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (effective November 30, 1996).
The Superintendent or designee will establish consistent guidelines and procedures to ensure that the acceptance and placement of foreign exchange students in our schools will be a beneficial experience for all involved.Legal Reference:
