New Graduation Requirements
for the Class of 2008
Starting with the class of 2008, there have been many changes to State and District graduation requirements. The graduation requirements will be different than for all graduates who have come before in Washington State . My sincere hope for you is that you complete all the requirements on time and are satisfied with your work. The requirements are:
- Meet the updated state standards related to the WASL, the tests you will take in tenth grade.
- Obtain 23 ½ credits according to the requirements of the Federal Way Public Schools, including earning one credit in algebra.
- Complete a Master Portfolio of your best work in high school.
- Complete a High School+ or 13th Year Plan according to the School Board adopted requirements.
As you already know it is important to plan for your future. We want to start you in the right direction and have created an advisory program in your high school to help you develop and clarify your plans and ultimately achieve your goals.
My greatest wish is that your high school experience will be challenging, rewarding, personally fulfilling, motivating, and set you on a path of success in whichever endeavor you choose.
Best Wishes,

Tom Murphy
Superintendent, Federal Way Public Schools
