Suzanne Smith has lived in the Federal Way School District since 1993, and currently resides in the Star Lake service area of Kent.  She and her husband have two children, who are third-generation Washingtonians.

As a parent of two children, Suzanne has closely followed the changes and challenges facing schools and our school district.  She has regularly attended School Board meetings and board work/study meetings since 2001, and stays informed on the educational issues facing our students and district, especially the current budgetary issues.

Suzanne has 12 years of experience as an education volunteer, including serving on an elementary school leadership team, serving as a PTA officer and committee chair for Star Lake Elementary and Federal Way PTSA Council, and serving on various committees for the school district, including the Fiscal Advisory Committee since 2003.

She is also a Chamber of Commerce Advancing Leadership Program graduate, class of 2005, and currently serves as vice-chair of the Federal Way Diversity Commission.

She has been honored with two Golden Acorn awards, the Federal Way School District Volunteer Award two years in a row at Star Lake Elementary, and, in 2004, the PTA Outstanding Advocate Award by both Star Lake Elementary PTA and the Federal Way PTSA Council.

Suzanne is dedicated to working for solutions that will enhance our children’s learning achievements and academic progress ensuring every student is successful. She believes that volunteering in our community is vital, and looks forward to this opportunity to serve her community.
