Board Members

The Federal Way School Board Members are your official elected local representatives in matters of public education. Each board member resides in a specific director district. They are elected to four year terms by voters of the entire school district. The board establishes the district goals, policies and budget. The superintendent and school staff translate these policies and goals into action which results in quality education for students in the Federal Way Public Schools.

Policy Governance®: Getting Down to What's Really Important

The Federal Way Public Schools Board of Directors unanimously approved a motion at the September 28, 2010 meeting to adopt a Policy Governance style of management.

Policy Governance® is a fundamental redesign of the role of the board, emphasizing values, vision and the empowerment of both board and staff.  It is designed to create a clear structure for a board of directors to be accountable to the community that they serve.  Read more »

Regular board meetings are broadcast live on cable channel 21 within the city limits of Federal Way on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, beginning at 7 p.m.  They also can be viewed live online during the meeting at mms://media.cityoffederalway.com/Live.

  • April 30, 2012 - This notice is to officially inform patrons and news media of the Federal Way Public School District No. 210 that the Board of Education will hold a work/study on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. This meeting is to discuss Ends 2, Academic Achievement. The work/study will be held at the Educational Service Center at 33330 – 8th Avenue South, Federal Way, WA.
  • April 13, 2012 - This notice is to officially inform patrons and news media of the Federal Way Public School District No. 210 that the five members of the Federal Way Board of Education will travel to Boston, MA to attend the National School Board Association Annual Conference from April 20-23, 2012. The Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. on April 21, 22, and 23, 2012 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center at 415 Summer St, Boston, MA. Information received at the conference and relevant to the District will be shared and discussed by the Board Members but no decisions will be made.
  • April 12, 2012 - This notice is to officially inform patrons and news media of the Federal Way Public School District No. 210 that the Superintendent will hold a Community Forum on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. This meeting is to discuss the rebuilding of Federal Way High School, replacing worn out playground equipment, and improving security cameras. The Forum will be held at Federal Way High School, 30611 16th Avenue South, Federal Way, WA.
  • March 15, 2012 - This notice is to officially inform patrons and news media of the Federal Way Public School District No. 210 that the Superintendent will hold a Focus Forum on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. This meeting is to share information about the Budget Status and Development.
