Board Members

The Federal Way School Board Members are your official elected local representatives in matters of public education. Each board member resides in a specific director district. They are elected to four year terms by voters of the entire school district. The board establishes the district goals, policies and budget. The superintendent and school staff translate these policies and goals into action which results in quality education for students in the Federal Way Public Schools.

Regular Board Meeting and Work/Study Resources

Regular board meetings are broadcast live on cable channel 21 within the city limits of Federal Way (and can be viewed live online during the meeting at mms://media.cityoffederalway.com/Live. Meetings are rebroadcast on channel 21 on Mondays at noon, Wednesdays at 9 a.m., Thursdays at 1 p.m., and Fridays at 6 p.m. In addition, meetings are rebroadcast at 10 a.m. on alternating Tuesdays.

• June 26, 2009 - The Board of Education has scheduled the Regular Board Meeting on July 28, 2009 to begin at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Educational Service Center at 31405 18th Avenue South, Federal Way, WA 98003. The meeting will adjourn at approximately 10:15 a.m.
• June 24, 2009 - The Board of Education has scheduled a work/study on Monday, June 29, 2009. The Board will meet in Executive Session for a student hearing and for negotiations at 5:00 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. the Board will convene for a work/study to continue the conversation on the district ENDS and communication.

• March 12, 2009 - The Board of Education has scheduled a two-day meeting on March 14-15, 2009. The meeting is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day and will be held at the Best Western Evergreen Inn and Suites in Federal Way.
• February 24, 2009 - The Board of Education has an agenda for the Retreat on February 26, 2009. The meeting will be held at the EX3 - Mark Sandwith Teen Center on the Truman Center campus.
• February 19, 2009 - The Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting on Thursday, February 19, 2009 and will meet in Executive Session for an employee appeal.
• February 17, 2009 - The Board of Education has scheduled a Retreat on February 26, 2009. The meeting will be held at the EX3 - Mark Sandwith Teen Center on the Truman Center campus.
• December 16, 2008 - The Board of Education will hold regular meetings for conducting work/studies on the first and third Tuesdays of each month beginning in January 2009. These work/studies were originally scheduled for Wednesdays.
• November 24 2008 - The Board of Education has changed the topic for discussion at the work/study to be held on December 3, 2008 as previously announced. The topics for the evening will be information on the Anti-Defamation League, Career and Technical Education Report and CORE 24.
• November 24 2008 - The Board of Education has cancelled the work/study previously scheduled for December 17, 2008.
• November 24 2008 - The Board of Education has scheduled a work/study on January 21, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Educational Service Center. Topics to be discussed are Data Driven Leadership and the Strategic Plan.
• November 24 2008 - The Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting on Monday, December 8, 2008, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The School Board will meet in Executive Session for a student appeal.
• October 30, 20008 - The Board of Education has added an agenda item to the work/study scheduled on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, to make a decision on the design and development of the New Panther Lake Elementary School.
• September 24, 2008 - The Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting on September 25, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The School Board will meet in Executive Session for a student appeal.
