Policies and Procedures in Plain English

Can I have a classroom website?
Yes. According to Policy 2022 and the FWPS Website Guidelines, “any web pages related to a staff member’s duties as an employee of Federal Way Public Schools must be hosted on a district server.” ITS provides you with the option of creating a GO website on https://go.fwps.org/faculty/. To request a GO account, visit https://go.fwps.org/faculty/ and click on Password Reminder. If for some reason that does not work, contact the Help-Desk to request a GO account.

Can I post student photos and work online?
If a parent has signed a --- agreement, you can post student work or a student photo online accordingly as long as you only post the students’ first name and this work or photos is hosted on a district, school, or classroom website located on a FWPS server.

What about copyright?
Based on the FWPS Website Guidelines, “no copyrighted material will be posted on web pages without the prior written consent of the copyright holder. This includes audio, video, text, and graphics. In the event that a staff person is in doubt as to whether material is allowable, they are responsible to contact the district webmaster to make a determination. See district policy (2312) and procedure (2312P) ‘Reproduction and Use of Copyrighted Materials.’”
