Certificated Positions

Certificated positions require a Washington State Teaching or Washington State Educational Staff Associated (ESA) certificate and include such positions as teachers, deans, counselors, speech language pathologists, registered nurses, psychologists, social workers, vocational teachers, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.

Classified Positions

Classified positions include managers, supervisors, coordinators, specialists, secretaries, paraeducator, cashiers, cooks, lunchroom help, bus and delivery drivers, custodians, buyers, purchasers, and occupational and physical therapy assistants.  Classified positions also all technology, security, maintenance, Head Start and ECEAP positions.

Administrative Positions

These positions include principals, assistant principals, directors and administrators.

Coaching Positions

Coaching positions require that you fill out a classified or certificated application depending upon which category you fall under.  (Please see above.)  These positions include head coaches, assistant coaches, drill and cheerleader advisors.  You must be at least 21 years of age to apply for head coach and at least 19 years of age to apply for an assistant coach.

Emergency Positions

This application is for non-certificated substitute teaching.  Certificated substitute teachers use the Certificated Application, and substitutes for all classified positions use the Classified Application.  Emergency Guest Teachers (substitutes) must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and experience working with groups of children. Please contact the Substitute Coordinator at (253) 945-2027 before filling out this application to see if Emergency Guest Teachers are needed at this time.

Express Positions

The express application is for current Federal Way Public School employees.  It should only be used by in-district employees when applying to summer school positions.  All other posted position will require the complete certificated or classified application.

Online Applications

If you plan to apply for open positions, it will be necessary for you to complete the online process even if you have an application on file with Human Resources. All applicants, substitutes, and employees will need to submit an online application in order to be considered for future positions.
