Family and Consumer Sciences Education uses an integrative approach to the relationships among individuals, families, and communities, and the environments in which they function.
1. The student uses a variety of ways to communicate ideas, which empower, strengthen, and improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
- 1. Demonstrate effective listening and feedback techniques
- 2. Demonstrate processes for cooperating, compromising, and collaborating
2. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to manage human, economic, material, and information resources to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.
- 1. Examine food and equipment needed for menus
- 2. Determine conditions and practices that promote safe food handling
- 3. Examine the use of resources in making choices that satisfy needs and wants of individuals and families
3. The student applies Family and Consumer Sciences Education knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems,
- 1. Examine factors that contribute to maintain safe and healthy work and community environments
- 2. Determine criteria for selecting care and services for children
4. The student applies strategies for balancing home, school, and work responsibilities.
- 1. Demonstrate respectful and caring relationships in the family, workplace, and community
- 2. Apply management and planning skills and processes to organize tasks and responsibilities
