Unifying Focus: Family & Consumer Sciences Education (FACSE) uses an integrative approach to the relationships among individuals, families, and communities and the environments in which they function.
1. The student uses a variety of ways to communicate which empower, strengthen, and improve the lives of individuals and families.
- 1. Demonstrates interpersonal skills that promote positive and productive relationships with children. (4.5.3)
- 2. Demonstrates a variety of teaching methods to meet individual needs of children. (4.3.4)
- 3. Demonstrates use of technology. (7.3.5)
2. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to manage human, economic, material, and information resources to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.
- 1. Examines a variety of curriculum and instructional models.(4.3.1)
- 2. Implements learning activities in all curriculum areas that meet the developmental needs of children. (4.3.2)
- 3. Determines a variety of assessment methods to observe and interpret children's growth and development. (4.2.2)
- 4. Establishes developmentally appropriate guidelines for behavior.(4.5.1)
- 5. Determines the roles and functions of individuals engaged in early childhood, education, and services. (4.1.1)
3. The student applies the Family Consumer Science (FCS) knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems.
- 1. Demonstrates problem-solving skills with children. (4.5.2)
- 2. Determines special needs of children. (4.2.4)
- 3. Implements an integrated curriculum that incorporates a childŐs language, learning styles, home experiences, and cultural values. (4.3.3)
4. The student applies strategies for balancing the responsibilities of home, school, and work.
- 1. Applies professional ethical standards as accepted by the recognized professional organizations. (4.6.2)
- 2. Examines education and training requirements and opportunities for career paths in early childhood, education, and services. (4.1.3)
- 3. Implements federal, state, and local standards, policies, regulations, and laws which impact children, families and programs. (4.6.3)
