8th Grade

The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain an active life.

To meet this standard the student will:

  • 1. Demonstrate competency in basic movement forms and proficiency in a few by
    • 1.1 participating in a variety of team activities demonstrating progressive skill proficiency.
    • 1.2 participating in a variety of lifetime activities (individual and dual) demonstrating skill development.
    • 1.3 participating in a variety of rhythmic activities with improved proficiency.
  • 2. Apply rules, sportsmanship, cooperation, and safety procedures in physical activity by
    • 2.1 demonstrating knowledge of rules and applying those rules to games and activities.
    • 2.2 following safety procedures and acting responsibly.
    • 2.3 practicing teamwork and working cooperatively.
    • 2.4 practicing good sportsmanship.
  • 3. Demonstrate the concepts of physical fitness and develop and monitor progress on personal fitness goals by
    • 3.1 demonstrating knowledge of the fitness components.
    • 3.2 developing and monitoring individualized fitness goals.
    • 3.3 participating in a fitness test.
    • 3.4 participating in a variety of fitness activities.
