7th Grade

The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain an active life.

To meet this standard the student will:

  • 1. Demonstrate competency in basic movement forms (i.e., throwing, catching, bouncing, running, jumping) and proficiency in a few by
    • 1.1 participating in a variety of team activities demonstrating basic skills of those sports.
    • 1.2 participating in a variety of lifetime activities (individual and dual) demonstrating the basic skills of those activities.
    • 1.3 participating in a variety of rhythmic activities, demonstrating basic skills.
  • 2. Apply rules, sportsmanship, cooperation, and safety procedures in physical activity by
    • 2.1 demonstrating knowledge of rules and applying those rules to games and activities.
    • 2.2 following safety procedures and acting responsibly.
    • 2.3 practicing teamwork and working cooperatively.
    • 2.4 practicing good sportsmanship.
  • 3. Demonstrate the concepts of physical fitness and develop and monitor progress on personal fitness goals by
    • 3.1 identifying the five components of fitness (cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition).
    • 3.2 participating regularly in a variety of fitness activities.
    • 3.3 participating in a fitness test.
    • 3.4 monitoring progress on individual fitness goals.
