Physical Education

10th, 11th, or 12th Grade

The following standards will apply to all physical education class(es) a student chooses to take during 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. The table that follows lists the courses available at this time.

1. The student applies the concepts of physical fitness, develops and monitors progress on personal fitness goals by:

  • 1.1 Applying the components of fitness when developing an individual action plan to live a healthy and active life.
  • 1.2 Practicing the principles of training for the purpose of modifying levels of fitness.
  • 1.3 Participating in regular fitness activities.
  • 1.4 Participating in a fitness test.
  • 1.5 Evaluating the recreational opportunities available for lifelong participation.

2. The student demonstrates and applies essential concepts and practices concerning injury prevention and safety by:

  • 2.1 Practicing warm-up and cool-down procedures appropriate to the activity.
  • 2.2 Applying rules and safety procedures in all physical activity settings.

3. The student demonstrates understanding and respect of differences among people by:

  • 3.1 Acting independently of peer pressure.
  • 3.2 Working cooperatively and productively with a partner or in a small group to achieve a common goal.
  • 3.3 Working to resolve conflict in appropriate ways.
  • 3.4 Demonstrating a proper perspective in regards to the importance of winning and losing.
  • 3.5 Demonstrating respect for the physical and performance limitations of self and others.
  • 3.6 Playing and cooperating with others regardless of personal difference in gender, ethnicity, age, or disability.

4. The student applies more specified knowledge to develop movement proficiency by:

  • 4.1 Identifying and applying critical elements to improve personal performance in advanced motor skills.
  • 4.2 Using more specialized knowledge to develop movement proficiency.
