Essential Learning 1: The student understands and uses different skills and strategies to read.

Reading Skill 1.2.1: Increases general and specialized vocabulary base

Strategies:

Pre-Reading Prediction, Concept Definition Mapping, Frayer Model, VOC Strategy, Graphic Organizers, SQ3R, Think Aloud

Assessment:

Cloze or Maze, Golden Questions, Anecdotal Records, Checklists

District/State Assessments: STAR, Course Expectations Assessment
