Middle School

1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to create, to perform, and to respond effectively to the arts.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 1.1 Identify and use various color scheme.
• 1.2 Develop a composition showing proportion.
• 1.3 Create a drawing using two-point perspective.
• 1.4 Assess their own work and the work of others.

2. The student applies the creative process with arts knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 2.1 Change a two-dimensional picture plan to a three-dimensional construction
• 2.2 Use artistic vocabulary to compare and contrast a well-known piece of art

3. The student uses at least one of the art forms to communicate ideas and feelings.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 3.1 Recognize artists' intent and meaning in works of art.
• 3.2 Communicate ideas through symbolic images.
• 3.3 Use commercial or advertising techniques.

4. The student understands how the arts connect to other subject areas, life, and work.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 4.1 Observe nature and apply to study elements of art.
• 4.2 Investigate works by different cultures.
