1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to create, to perform, and to respond effectively to the arts.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 1.1 Identify primary, secondary and intermediate colors.
• 1.2 Develop a composition with a focal point.
• 1.3 Create a drawing using one-point perspective.
• 1.4 Use selected art elements to choose one piece of art for display.

2. The student applies the creative process with arts knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 2.1 Create a piece of art using foreground, middle ground, and background.
• 2.2 Abstract a realistic object.

3. The student uses at least one of the art forms to communicate ideas and feelings.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 3.1 Use vocabulary to express ideas and feelings after viewing art media by writing a response.
• 3.2 Develop an awareness of art in the environment through personal expression.

4. The student understands how the arts connect to other subject areas, life, and work.

To meet this standard, the student will:

• 4.1 Use math and math concepts to create art.
• 4.2 Properly care for and maintain art materials.
