Middle School
1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to create, to perform, and to respond effectively to the arts. To meet this standard, the student will:
- 1. Work as a member of a group incorporating the elements of sets, sound, lighting, makeup, costumes, props and special effects to produce a theatrical experience
- 2. Demonstrate refinement of the dramatic techniques utilizing poise, confidence, energy, body language and vocal expression
2. The student applies the creative process with arts knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems. To meet this standard, the student will:
- 1. Apply the knowledge of blocking, directing and synchronizing sound and action to effectively present scripted material
- 2. Apply universal theater terminology to produce a successful theater experience
3. The student uses at least one of the art forms to communicate ideas and feelings. To meet this standard, the student will:
- 1. Create a complex characterization relying on the verbal and nonverbal techniques of drama
- 2. Read and analyze plays to discover theme, sub plots, motivation as well as character
4. The student understands how the arts connect to other subject areas, life, and work. To meet this standard, the student will:
- 1. Display work skills within a group including trust, respect, responsibility and pride
- 2. Identify a variety of theatrical genre: tragedy, comedy, drama, farce and melodrama
