Regrouping: Addition and Subtraction
- Using counters, have your child organize the counters into groups of tens and have some ones left over. Add the tens and ones and write the number. (When adding, count by tens first and then ones.)

- Regroup items using a different number. Follow the same process and then add the results of the 2 numbers together. This time add the ones first and then add the tens. You may have to regroup to make another group of ten.

- Follow the same procedure for subtraction. Take away a smaller number by subtracting the ones first and then the tens.
