Do At Home Reading 3rd and 4th Grades

Reading a Variety of Books

Day 1

Find a book on tape. Listen to it as you are reading the book with your child. Tell about how the tape helps you create a picture in your head of what is happening in the story versus just when you read the book.

Day 2

Pick up a brochure from somewhere that you are visiting such as the aquarium or zoo. Have your child read this over with you. Have them tell you the important facts that they learned about that place from reading the brochure.

Day 3

Choose a non-fiction book to read together. Have your child list six facts that they learned from reading this book.

Day 4

Keep a list of all of the books that you and your child read together.

Look at the list and review what the books were about from time time. Talk about if they were fiction or non-fiction.
