Third Grade Learning Expectations
The learning expectations listed below are for third grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations. Promotion will be based on the mastery of the reading expectations.
Communication Expectations
1. The student uses listening and observational skills to gain understanding.
- 1.1 Pays attentions while others are talking
- 1.2 Listens for main ideas, details, and meaning
- 1.3 Asks questions to clarify content and meaning
- 1.4 Paraphrases information
2. The student communicates ideas clearly and effectively
- 2.1 Projects voice well
- 2.2 Communicates to small and large groups
- 2.3 Uses good posture and eye contact
- 2.4 Experiments with a variety of media and resources to enhance oral presentations
3. The student uses communication strategies and skills to work effectively with others.
- 3.1 Demonstrates conversation skills
- 3.2 Assumes a variety of assigned roles within a group to perform a task
- 3.3 Identifies and shares ideas and points of view
4. The student analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of formal and informal communication.
- 4.1 Uses established criteria to evaluate and improve one's own and others' presentations
- 4.2 Offers feedback, with guidance, on others' presentations
- 4.3 Accepts and applies feedback on own presentation
- 4.4 Identifies forms of communication
