Second Grade Learning Expectations
The learning expectations listed below are for second grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.
Visual Art Expectations
1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to create, to perform, and to respond effectively to the visual arts.
- 1.1 Understands and applies the concepts and vocabulary of line, color, shape/form, texture, and space
- 1.2 Explores with creating, presenting and evaluating visual artwork
2. The student applies the creative process with arts knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems.
- 2.1 Begins to explore works of visual art by others for ideas
- 2.2 Explores using the senses, to recognize image, action, and movement in visual art
3. The student uses visual art to communicate ideas and feelings.
- 3.1 Uses visual art to communicate an idea
- 3.2 Begins to use imagination and creativity to express ideas or understanding in visual art
4. The student understands how visual art connects to other subject areas, life, and work.
- 4.1 Explores using visual art as an integral part of a classroom presentation or a report
