Definition of Writing Skill:
When students are shown a model, they can copy it accurately with correctly formed letters which have been previously taught. Students can copy 1-3 words accurately from a model.
Strategies:
- Provide daily opportunities
to copy: "Write the room" center where a clipboard with paper
and pencil is provided, along with a pointer so that two children can
work together.
- Copying the "word
of the day".
- Write the day and
date in Journal.
- Sentence frame models.
Assessment:
Teacher observation of student copying from a model.
- Is the child's writing accurate and legible?
