Definition of Writing Skill:
Letters can be easily read. Print is from top to bottom and left to right.
Strategies:
Letters -
- Students initially
learn to print letters when they are learning their sounds.
- Use of district
adopted D'Nealian for teaching letter formation. Special attention is
paid to verbal descriptions of letter formation provided in the teacher's
manual.
- Use lap sized white
boards and writing in the air for group lessons on letter formation
and practice.
- Use salt trays
(e.g., salt, rice, or corn meal on dark colored tray).
- Wipe off transparencies
for tracing, or practice.
- Writing in shaving
cream.
- Practice in journals.
