Second Grade Learning Expectations
= Essential Learning 1: The student writes clearly and effectively.Writing Skill 1.2: Writes about an idea.
Definition of Writing Skill:
The student is able to write on topic for the duration of the paragraph.
Strategies:
- Given examples of paragraphs that do not stay on the topic, the student identifies those sentence(s) that do not fit.
- The teacher reads paragraphs to students are who to record those paragraphs that stay on topic and those that do not.
- Present a mini lesson on strategies for identifying off-topic sentences in student's own writing.
