Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL)
The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) is a criterion-referenced test specifically aligned to state standards. It measures the application of basic skills necessary to be a successful student but it uses a variety of question formats, including multiple choice, short answer and extended-response questions, to assess student knowledge.
An excellent overview of the WASL is available at the OSPI WASL Information site, a joint project of Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Washington State PTA, Partnership for Learning and the Association of Washington School Principals.
