Graduation 2023

Congrats to our 2023 Federal Way Public Schools graduates!

1,420 student-scholars received diplomas during graduation ceremonies held June 9 – 13. FWPS also celebrated 17 exiting transition scholars in the Employment and Transition Program.

Graduates represented the following schools:

  • Decatur High School
  • Federal Way High School
  • TAF@Saghalie
  • Thomas Jefferson High School
  • Todd Beamer High School
  • Truman Campus - Career Academy at Truman, Federal Way Open Doors, Internet Academy

In total, our graduates earned over $5.5 million in scholarships. 232 scholars are the first in their families to graduate from high school. 402 graduates are the first in their families to attend college. Hundreds have graduated with industry-recognized credentials to support their future careers, and so far, 165 of them have earned the Seal of Biliteracy, with more results coming in this summer.

Graduates heard advice from principals, board members, staff, and student speakers.

Superintendent Dr. Dani Pfeiffer encouraged scholars to embrace opportunities and to not be afraid to take risks and make mistakes because they are what our future needs to make the world a better place. She reminded graduates of the words of Maya Angelou that “nothing can dim the light that shines from within,” and closed by sharing that every scholar has the “tenacity, drive, and ambition to propel them forward in their bright futures…[so] go out into the world, let your light shine—and set this world on fire.”

At Federal Way Public Schools, we know each scholar has a voice, a dream and a BRIGHT future.
