District Headlines & Features
Hello Saghalie Skyhawks! I am so excited to share the hard work that is taking place here at Saghalie. Our first quarter included some great athletic accomplishments, some strong academic accomplishments and some big change. Our Skyhawks have begun highly engaging project-based learning around different grade level and elective projects and presentations. We have also leveled all of our readers so that we can celebrate each time our scholars reach new reading levels this year. In math, our teachers have been taking part of math labs and are having deep conversations about student learning. For electives, our sixth graders have finished their first elective class and will be experiencing their second elective of four in quarter 2. For sports, our girls came in 5th place and set a school record for cross-country. Our fastpitch team got better and better and had a big win at Sequoyah this year. We also had some really close and tough wins for JV and varsity football.
If you didn’t know, we are also beginning preparations for transitioning with TAFA next year. We have held our first community forum to discuss the plan and answer questions about what next year will look like as we will become TAF@Saghalie and move from a traditional middle school to a 6-12 site. We are also putting together a leadership transition team that includes community, families, students, and staff.
Included on this website is my Principal Entry Plan, which you can follow along as I complete my goals for the year. You will also find information on athletics, ASB, academics, calendars, policies, and more.
